Pasture Tour This is the third in the series - the South Pasture on the main farm.
|
Coming into the South pasture,
you follow the trail across the
creek. (Left)
Directly ahead, just past the creek,
is a long lane surrounded by hills
and leading to several smaller
pastures with open access. (Below)
Lots of open land, and lots of trees. On
the bottom left, a clearing and a wooded
area just beyond and to the left of the
lane. On the bottome right, the edge of
the woodline on the back border of the
pasture.
The land in this pasture varies from hilly to level, from
wetland to gravel, from pasture to woodland. Several
small areas are clearings surrounded by trees, and could
be fenced off. We have 4-wheeler trails through the
woods for easy access when checking the sheep and for
our own entertainment.
Lots of marketable timber on the place.

While the sheep are busy munching the grass, the goats are busy munching high-protein leaves and weeds. They do a good job, so it is a good thing this is a renewable resource!
|
The creek from the night pasture
(below) branches through this pasture,
too (left).
The trails make great places to go horseback riding, or 4-wheelering on, too!
|
At Left: and below- Sheep file
along a trail above the creek,
passing a smaller paddock set up
for Sunni's horse and the cattle
corrals.
