Guardian Dogs
Since 1985
Our LGD stock was originally registered;
although we kept the lines pure for many
years, we did not bother with registering
dogs. In the last few years, we have bred
some Anatolian and some Akbash blood
into the dogs. The results have been very
satisfying, and, we feel, an improvement
on a straight Pyrenees. Scroll down for
more information on our LGDs.
Ginger (at the right) was a
Pyrenees/Anatolian/Akbash
cross. She was an excellent dog,
and as much a part of the flock
as any sheep or goat.  We lost
her to a bear last year. We bond
our dogs with the flock at an
early age, and they live with the
stock 24-7.  Ginger's pups have
been quite popular with those
who have them, and they are
located from California to Rhode
Island.
Our pups are scattered across the country.
We've found our dogs are very motherly -  some have even adopted orphans to raise with their own litters. As
you can see in the top photo, the pups are raised alongside the stock; when they are old enough to stay out of
trouble, they are removed to a pasture where Mom completes their training. The pups bond to the stock - not
the front porch.
We are no longer breeding pups.

Tish is part of
the family, but
really enjoys
her part-time
job of herding
the flock!
